Dear Mom:
God I love you mom. I know you are looking forward to the time when you are with me in heaven. Until then, you have my Heavenly letters of love.
Loving and being loved is so wonderfully precious. Saint Mathew told me that Jesus taught that loving God with all your heart and loving your neighbor as yourself are the two most important commandments.
Imagine, people needing to be commanded to love each other! It sounds so easy. Yet so many people on earth are never able to experience it due to their own selfishness. I know this sounds harsh, but I'm only paraphrasing what Saint Mathew told me.
When Saint John heard us speaking of love, he told us that Jesus also said that Christians should love one another as much as Jesus loves us. This is how everyone on earth will know that we belong to Christ.
Mom, I never spoke to you of love. It was just always pouring out of you. I am so lucky to have been born into a Christian family. Not ever body is so fortunate. In fact, I found out that some people on earth are even jealous about families that love each other! I can't help but feel sorry for these people. These are the people who need to find Jesus more than anyone else.
Do me a favor. Go out today and tell someone that God loves them and wants them to be part of His kingdom. Tell them that the only way into the kingdom is through Jesus. I know that it is uncomfortable approaching people in this way, but please do it as a favor to me. Give to them the same love you showed me. Don't allow them to be left out of God's kingdom.
If every one on earth loved one another with the compassion that God the Father loves us and Jesus showed us, I suspect that heaven would be on earth. This type of perfect, unconditional, forever love is not possible on earth due to our sin nature. The good news is that a reasonable facsimile is possible when people like you willing give of themselves to others.
The other day I noticed you gave dad the biggest piece of pie and watched as he switched it over to you when you went to get one of the boys a drink. If you think this kind of act is too small to mention you are wrong. It is precisely the kind of loving act that turns heads in heaven. Giving to another what you want for yourself is one of the most precious kinds of love.
Speaking of love. Dad is feeling a little blue today. Give him a big hug and one of those mushy kisses I occasionally caught you giving him when you thought no one was around. You know he loves you very much and feels bad when he isn't able to give you everything he wants you to have. Remind him that loving you the way he does is worth more than anything the world has to offer you.
